Neil Alexander at International Waterfront Festival

by MarkDelano

Leading off the music for the day at the Newburgh International Waterfront Festival was a “hometown favorite” Neil Alexander and NAIL. Several NAIL-Heads were on hand as were numerous local residents who were not sure what to expect from this unusual looking “instrument” called a “keytar.”

Any questions that anybody might have had about the show were quickly answered as Neil, joined by Nadav Snir-Zelniker on drums and Dan Asher on bass, quickly captivated the audience with a mesmerizing set or original tunes from his recent CD “Tugging at the Infinite” and some new, yet to be released material.

It was amazing to see the crowd grow as the set progressed. Passers-by of all ages, on there way to other attractions the Festival had to offer, were drawn in by NAIL and stayed to listen and watch the show. Neil’s new arrangement of “Shenandoah” drew huge applause from the audience only to be surpassed by the ovation for the set’s closer “Everyman” which Neil dedicated to the audience.

Alas, with the crowd crying for more, unfortunately the set had to come to an end as the stage needed to be set for the next act. But not before Neil could announce his next performance.

Any performance by Neil Alexander & NAIL is a show not to be missed and if you can, be sure to catch Neil perform “A 400 Year Musical Journey” next Sunday (September 13, 2009 – 2 pm) at the Newburgh Free Library in Newburgh, New York.
