Tucson’s 20th Anniversary A Homecoming for Trevor Finlay in Ottawa

Reviewd by Jack Mills

The last time my wife and I saw Canadian-native Trevor Finlay  perform was in May 2008 at his “Send Off” party at Ottawa Canada’s popular venue Tucson’s.  He performed with his local band for the last time before moving to Nashville, TN.  Trevor returned home this October 8th and 9th to help celebrate Tucson’s 20th Anniversary and what a homecoming show it was!  The 4-piece included some of  the US and Canada’s top notch musicians.  The cream of the crop.   Everything about this evening was amazing from the grooves of Trevor’s latest tunes, the tightness of the band to his unforgettable guitar solos.

No wonder Finlay is winning legions of new fans Stateside.  His songs masterfully explore both the quirks of everyday life and the mysteries of the heart with wry, clever wordplay.   I’m happy to know that American audiences discovered what Canadian fans already know:  Trevor Finlay is a true original and an unforgettable performer.
